Beyond Extremes – Güntner Dry Coolers for Continuous Power

Ensure stable operation of your power plants in complex and extreme environments with Güntner‘s robust dry cooler solutions.

Extreme Climate Challenges?

As we work in the energy industry, we constantly face challenges in maintaining stable power facilities in extreme outdoor environments. These range from the icy tundra of Siberia with temperatures of -40°C to the scorching deserts of the Sahara with temperatures of 63°C, as well as highly corrosive conditions, posing comprehensive challenges to the weather resistance of supporting equipment.

As a globally leading expert in cooling systems, Güntner not only provides dry coolers that are adaptable to extreme environments but also introduces an "expert consulting service" model. In this model, senior engineers are deeply involved in project design, crafting customized solutions for clients. Furthermore, these solutions have been proven through practice in numerous challenging environmental projects worldwide.

Durability and protection with Güntner
Corrosion Protection (GCP)

To maximize the resistance and service life of our equipment, we have developed Güntner Corrosion Protection (GCP) as a comprehensive concept. This is designed to ensure that the equipment is adequately protected against environmental and weather influences through the use of the right materials in combination with a proven powder coating system. In this way, we help to secure your investment in our products in the long term.

Stand fearless against extreme weather

Germany

Clean energy from hydrogen

The production of “green hydrogen” using electrolysis and electricity from renewable sources is virtually emission-free. However, the process generates waste heat that must be dissipated. The electrolysers manufactured by Quest One Systems in Germany are equipped with roof-mounted Güntner recoolers to ensure the necessary cooling and stability. These include the Flat COMPACT recooler, Flat VARIO recooler, and V-shape VARIO recooler models.

Worldwide

Generating renewable energy from waste

Güntner provides reliable cooling solutions worldwide for biogas-powered electricity generation plants in challenging environments. Four Güntner V-shape VARIO recoolers are used at the 16 MW Hangzhou Tianziling power plant in China to optimize the efficiency of the Caterpillar generators. These space-saving recoolers regulate two separate cooling circuits in an environment where the enormous installed capacity places very high demands on the generators.

China

Cooling the world's largest converter station

The Butuo converter station (as large as 90 soccer fields) in southwest China converts the electricity generated by the 16,000 MW Baihetan hydroelectric power plant, generating a lot of heat in the process. To safely cool the sensitive valve components with ultrapure water, 16 specially adapted Güntner Flat VARIO recoolers were installed. Their special cleaning system ensures the long-term functionality of the coils and reduces maintenance costs.

Brazil

Cooling of substations throughout the grid

Maintaining stability in Brazil's vast power grid requires synchronous compensators in substations, and these must be cooled efficiently. In the past, maintenance-intensive cooling towers were used for this purpose, consuming large amounts of water and chemicals. Güntner has developed a superior and environmentally friendly alternative: the V-shape COMPACT and V-shape VARIO recoolers. These closed recoolers prevent water loss through evaporation, eliminate the need for chemical water treatment, and significantly reduce maintenance and operating costs – making them the ideal solution for grid stability.
