Beyond extremes - Güntner dry coolers for continuous performance
Ensure the stable operation of your power plants in complex and extreme environments with the robust dry cooler solutions from GüntnerExtreme climate challenges?
In our work in the energy sector, we are constantly faced with the challenge of operating stable power supply systems in extreme outdoor environments. These range from the icy tundra of Siberia with temperatures of -40°C to the scorching deserts of the Sahara with temperatures of 63°C as well as highly corrosive conditions that pose extensive challenges to the weather resistance of the supporting equipment.
As the world's leading expert in cooling systems, Güntner not only offers dry coolers that can be adapted to extreme environmental conditions, but also introduces an "expert consulting model". In this model, experienced engineers are closely involved in project planning and develop customised solutions for customers. Furthermore, these solutions have proven themselves in practice in numerous demanding environmental projects worldwide.

Longevity and protection by Güntner
Corrosion protection (GCP)
To maximise the resistance and service life of our units, we have developed Güntner Corrosion Protection (GCP) as a comprehensive concept. The aim is to ensure that the units are adequately protected against environmental and weather influences by using the right materials in combination with a proven powder coating system. In this way, we help to protect your investment in our products in the long term.
Undaunted by extreme weather conditions
Germany
Clean energy from hydrogen
The production of "green hydrogen" using electrolysis and electricity from renewable sources is practically emission-free. However, the process generates waste heat that needs to be dissipated. The electrolysers manufactured by Quest One Systems in Germany are equipped with roof-mounted Güntner drycoolers to ensure the necessary cooling and stability. These include the Flat COMPACT drycooler, Flat VARIO drycooler and V-shape VARIO drycooler models.

Worldwide
Generating renewable energy from waste
Güntner offers reliable cooling solutions for biogas-fuelled power generation plants in problematic environments worldwide. At the 16 MW Hangzhou Tianziling power plant in China, four Güntner V-shape VARIO drycoolers are used to optimise the efficiency of the Caterpillar generators. These space-saving drycoolers control two separate cooling circuits in an environment where the enormous installed capacity places very high demands on the generators.

China
Cooling the largest converter station in the world
The Butuo converter station (the size of 90 football pitches) in south-west China converts the electricity generated by the 16,000 MW Baihetan hydropower plant, generating a lot of heat in the process. In order to safely cool the sensitive valve components with ultrapure water, 16 specially customised Güntner Flat VARIO drycoolers were installed. Their special cleaning system ensures the long-term functionality of the coils and reduces maintenance costs.

Brazil
Cooling power substations throughout the grid
Maintaining stability in Brazil's huge electricity grid requires synchronised compensators in substations, and these need to be cooled efficiently. In the past, high-maintenance cooling towers were used for this purpose, consuming large amounts of water and chemicals. Güntner has developed a superior and environmentally friendly alternative: the V-shape COMPACT and V-shape VARIO drycoolers. These closed recoolers prevent water loss through evaporation, eliminate the need for chemical water treatment and significantly reduce maintenance and operating costs - making them the ideal solution for grid stability.
